Fractal Fighter

Fractal Fighter it's called, and I made it in a bit over 24 hours (not spending all that time in front of the computer obviously). This might not be the final version, but it's a complete game as it is.

Moosic by Mohn Jarwin, game by moi. Sorry if it sucks. But it's really you who suck. If there's no bugs in there, I will release publically, so find bugs, ok? Also tell me about difficult problems.

If people like this, I will make updated version with boss editor and random enemies. But only for people who get full version of Akuchizoku. Maybe Tongue

Sorry for abusing the english language. I'm so tired. So very tired.

Omfg, I suck. A lot.

Nicely done, I quite like it. The screenshot does no justice, and those homing shots are evil, but in a good way. Fractal theme is great, along with the simplicity. It almost screams retro at me when I play it  Smiley

A boss editor and random enemies sounds cool.

And plus I could never get this much done in 24 hours, and thus I envy you.  Wink

Wow this is really something special. It's great how the angles move in unison to make the limbs spread. I really like this game a lot. It's easily on par with Warning Forever.



Aviator sunglasses are pretty much the shmups of the sunglasses world.

Found a small bug. If you destroy a laser turret (the last of the ship's components) as it's firing, it detaches from the ship and rotates. The laser shot also rotates with the weapon and kills you.
(Of course you could call this a feature, but I don't think this is how you had planned it to work)

Actually, it's supposed to be like that. I even added some extra code to make sure that it is this way. The lasers are fairly harmless overall, despite the rotation thing.

In other news: I've updated the game. New things: Random Mode, Lives, Targetting + lots of misc stuff that you might not notice.

The targetting works like this: press C and three crosshairs will appear. One at the position of the enemy closest to your x-coordinate, one at the x-coordinate of that enemy and the y-coordinate of yourself, and a third at your x-coordinate and the closest enemy's y-coordinate. When you align with the aim a small beep will play to confirm that you're locked on. Press C again fast to dispatch six missiles that will move towards the spot where you locked on to target. Targetting also makes it easier to find "hidden parts" and to locate nearest destroyable entity. Hint: Targetting is best used against the bigger cannons.

note: More lives lower the amount of score you get.

If I get no more complaints, I'll post the game at a few more forums/sites as an official V1.0.

Pretty addictive stuff.  Set myself the target of beating a mil on one life but currently stuck at 987,400.  Those homing missiles are a real pain to dodge when there's loads of them and the arms are spread out.  I find myself getting sniped by bullets hiding behind explosions a lot too.  Would be awesome if you could make the bullets a different colour so they dont get hidden.

The reason I thought this was a bug was because the rotation is pre-calculated, so you can avoid getting killed like this by weaving in and out at the left side, but not the right. You 're the creator, though, so I don't mean to impose.
This game's addictive as hell.

I found the best way to dodge the sweeping laser fire was to just sit right on top of them as you detroy them.  Just be careful not to be sat on them when they fire though since even though you're behind the actual laser beam you still get destroyed if you're overlapping the gun.

Hah, Cactus, I've always found your games to be delightful, especially because of the art style and the fact that everything is so smooth. Especially cool is how the homing missiles deform as they move faster. Really great work, as usual.

I tried to see how it would look in 3D... If I throw in a nice background, a redesigned interface and an online highscore table, plus some new attacks, maybe I could sell it? No?

Dope!! You could make 2 modes in the same game... retro mode (the black and white shit... or maybe you could pick the color yourself?) and the 3D mode... And yeah, I think its defenetly good enough for selling!

Nice look, gives it an implicit sort of storyline... something like in the dead of space exists something so evil, dispatch your best pilot for the sake of the galaxy.
