pixelizr's entry

This is a stunt at best. I'll learn what I can about Lite-C, and see if it would be enough to push a simple prototype out. If I don't make it for this round, I'll see to it that I'll show up in Session 14. Wish me luck!

Re: pixelizr's entry

Lite-C failed in the "ease of entry" department, after leaving me with not even a keyboard controllable sprite after a couple of hours of examining source code and reading stuff. Also, apparently it seems pretty weak in handling games consisting of pure 2D entities.

The clock is ticking! Hehe.

Next up is Torque Game Builder.

Re: pixelizr's entry

Next up should have been Game Maker or Java [2 days, movable object, 4 days, bullets, and an object to shoot at [it took so long because I didn't work on it exceedingly often]].

Re: pixelizr's entry

Hindsight makes me agree with you! I thought TGB was around the same level as Game Maker in terms of rapid development. But soon enough, I discovered that apparently you need to script up your own behavior to enable keyboard control of your player. That's not so rapid. I admire TGB's potential for code reuse in production environments of independent game software vendors, but unfortunately it's not "rapid" enough for this particular scenario.

I actually was hoping to start a bit earlier, but I had a few... problems... this week. Grin

So that concludes my attempt for Session 13. Funny thing is that the theme was "Time", and I ran out of time.

I'll definitely be around for Session 14.
