Wings of Apocalypse X

Wings of Apocalypse X is a remake of a game I released back in 2008 (Wings of Apocalypse). Between working on other game projects I came across a free web based game engine called Wild Pockets (You should definitely check it out. Its pretty badass!).  After getting back together with my friends who helped me with the original we began to work on this new version. Hopefully you enjoy what we've done with the new version so far. I'd definitely love to hear your feedback!

You can play it at www.wingsofapocalypse.com!

You can also download the soundtrack of WoAX from HERE!

EDIT: If you want to save your unlockables in the game make sure you create a login at www.wildpockets.com and be logged in while you're playing the game!

I'm tempted to download this but why do you have to install the wild pockets plug in??

This kind of thing puts me off straight away which is a shame as the game looks pretty good.

Yo, I gave it a try, though I really don't get the point with browser games that require browser plugins, why not use a normal old school exe? That way the first thing I got were massive hickups, because my browser was not focused  Smiley
Anyway, here's my first impression:

Pros:
- great gfx
- great music

Cons:
- missing keyboard config (z is y for me  Tongue )
- a bug that makes the player shots invisible sometimes
- the poly explosions, though looking nice, are a bit too distractive

I also miss some kind of visible enemy-was-hit-feedback.
Regarding that bug: I use Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows7 64bit, GT 240 (driver 197.45)

Overall a promising game I will take a close look at!

Re: Wings of Apocalypse X

I finally tried it and for a flash game to load a level of 44mb in size just isn't right if your not lucky enough to have a fast connection speed waiting for this to load would take a long time.

It's also very buggy and flickers a lot it looks good but it needs to be a stand alone .exe file for it to attract much attention.

This is just my opinion though.

Sorry about the non-existant config. I'll try to add that in soon.

player shots should show up now no matter what.

I'll try to see if i can make the explosions less distractive although I think that they look cool =P!

Support for google chrome should be coming out either today or tomorrow! I'll keep you updated. Sorry about that!

Wild Pockets  has web support similar to unity except its a lot different. Everything is actually on the server side kinda like onlive (if youve heard of that) except you're actually running the game on your actual computer instead of it being streamed over via video. Its kind of hard to explain but its actually a cool engine for development and they are working to add mac, linux, and more broswer support. I agree that its depends on you having a pretty decent connection for it to work though. There is supposed to be support for downloading it to your harddrive soon though so I'll keep you posted on that!
