Doesn't work here. Win xp pro, evga geforce 6600+, amd 3700+, 1 gb ddr3200. I click on the exe (after running the openAL thing) and it just flickers a waiting mouse cursor and fails to run.

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED)

I just tried your game on one of the WinXP-based computers in my neck of the woods, mice, and it worked great there!  And the gameplay is really impressive on the two different types of shots you got there!!  Wink

Wanna know what my high score is on the compo version you just presented recently?  3,292,200pts., no miss!!!  Grin  Here is a replay of it right near the end of this message (for those of you logging in and viewing this!).  Extract the .ZIP file of it in the “replays” directory of where Fleur de Luce is, ok?

Overall, really great job on this game and so truly looking forward to the completed version soon!!!  d=cool1=b

Bound to happen to someone. This version doesn't have the startup-log code in it. Only some test logs. So there isn't anything I can do to debug it, unfortunately.

LMAO. Or as you would say: Cool=b
Great going. You beat my score with about a million.  Cry
I'll play your entry as soon as I get my new disks for my "real" computa'. The one I'm using now is only doing 15fps in your game.

And to Neji and Dookie, thanks alot guys!

Cool engine!!!
If only you knew, if only...   Wink
The power is in the editors, too bad I never get around to doing them user friendly. Could be releasing a game a week if they were (if all of the gfx, design and sfx etc is already done, that is...doh!).

And, my disks still haven't arrived. If only I would have read the customer reviews of the 'shop' before ordering. Seems like they take their time to send the stuff ordered. At least they were cheap.

My DVDs arrived last week though. But seeing that I don't have a DVD reader in this crappy, noisy and slooow machine, I can't check them out. Will have to wait for the disks to arrive.

And, my luck continues, got a PM from Matt the other day saying he couldn't get the entry to run.
What can I say? This summer just isn't mine...  Roll Eyes

LOL. Trust me. My I usually build an editor for each engine I make. :*)

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED)

I was wondering if anyone else has a problem while playing, where the the up input is constantly being "pressed." This actually isn't the first game that does this for me, but it's not for every game, only a few games here and there I've downloaded recently. Anyone have any idea what my problem is? I really want to play this one.

EDIT: I should mention that it's not just on one computer, it's on three different ones that I use that this happens.

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED)

Got my new disks today. So I reinstalled XP and all of my apps. And was looking forward to getting my old data back from the DVDs that's been laying around.

Well, the 99.14% of success in the disk recovery is probably true, but the 0.86% missing is the most important part...obviously, with my luck recently.
There were whole folders and sometimes a few files in each folder missing. In someplaces I can re-create the files (when I know what is missing) but most of it isn't re-creatable (without month' of work).
So, that was SEK 4750 (EUR 520 or USD 680) down the drain.  Cry

Well...at least I've got a running computer again.

I have this problem with a few games as well, if I have the "analog mode" button active on my Wingman pad.
You do have a gamepad or something attached, right? Otherwise the problem sounds really strange.

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED)

Ha, yeah I guess it was my arcade stick. That sucks, I was really hoping to play this with that, oh well.

Thanks, and thanks for the demo. Keep on working. Even if you did lose some work, you've got a nice demo here that should be completed.

I agree with Khris over here, mice, because in spite of some really bad misfortune, hey, you STILL have found a helluva gold mine in this awesome game entry of yours.  And man, I sure hope you win this “Dragon Shmup” contest indeed, and I also hope your game finally gets completed as you desired it to be, my man!!!  d=Grin=b !

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED)

Man...and things keep going wrong.
Seems like 8 out of 9 cpp files for this project were ok, but the 9th and the most important one (the actual engine) is GONE.  Cry
The header-file for that cpp file is ok though, so 'all' I have to do is to recreate the methods...  Roll Eyes

But knowing me, I'd probably create a new engine instead. Haven't decided yet.
The editors (made in java) for the engine seem to be ok. So all isn't lost, it just feels like that for the moment.

Yeah, especially since the right way to experience the game is with an arcade stick.
As I can't rebuild my project now I can't try to fix it either. And THAT sucks!
Have you tried running the joystick calibration app in the control panel? As you got problems with other games as well, the problem could be that the calibration is a little bit off. Or something.
But it most probably is in my joy reading code, but it could be worth a try at least.

What game are you playing? Sure you didn't start up MAME or something by accident?  Wink

I'm going to start downloading all of the entries now and play them through. Now that I got a machine to handle them. Yiehaa, I see some light at the end of the tunnel and it looks like fun!

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED) - DISQUALIFIED

As you've all seen, we're disqualified.  Cry

But that didn't stop me from re-creating the engine, from scratch.
All of the original engine features are in there (and quite a few are improved on as well) and a lot of features have been added. And this took only about 3 days.

And thanks to relsoft and nicolas_bol who pointed me in the right direction, it now has the startup/joy/key code and stuff using GLFW. Miles easier (and probably better) than my own codes for setting up a screen and reading the joy.

Don't know if I'll continue on this particular game with the engine, though. My brother started creating some truly wonderful gfx for another game (yes, a shmup) that I'm anxious to get on-screen asap. But then again, doing multiple titles at the same time might actually help the creativity-side of things.

I'm starting my new job on thuesday so the next couple of month' will be hectic, but I'll post some screenies and stuff from the projects in the WIPs forum as soon as there is something to show.

Until then, good luck to the rest of the entrants!

I know Matt didn't get the game started on his machine, so the other judge probably didn't get it started either.

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED) - DISQUALIFIED

When I first heard news today in this thread that Fleur de Luce actually got disqualified, I was *rather* shocked to find out for myself that it was one of my favorite entries in this whole competition, and had it not been disqualified in the first place, it would potentially (and even definitely!) have won!!  DAMN!!  Cry

To put it simply, mice, I am terribly, TERRIBLY plain sorry (and a little heartbroken, too!) that this very awesome game of yours crashed-and-burned in this contest.  I share your pain truly, man.

However, with the good news that you are gonna continue this project to make it even better, in addition with another shmup that your brother is working some graphics for, it is really no total loss after all, I should say!!  Wink=b  Hey, you got plenty of good fortune on your side to overcome that disqualification event, you know?

Look, I wanna wish you SO well on your new job and in continuing the development of this game as well, understand me?  police=b !!

Re: Entry: "Fleur de Luce" (ENTRY ATTACHED) - DISQUALIFIED

This game probably would have been a strong contender for the contest, but unfortantely it did not work on our computers, the game crashes right when you double click the executable.  Its a shame because I was REALLY looking forward to looking at this game!!!

At any rate, I hope further development continues so that I can actually play it!
