I know how the life thing can go, since I'm also married and have an unpredictable job (on-call service work on hosipital equipment). It sometimes makes it really hard to find time to work on my videogame projects! But my games aren't on any sort of time schedule, so if I don't get something done in a couple of months (or longer

) then the world's certainly not going to end.
But this website is different, in that it is a unique and prominent entity on the Web. As such, it should be maintained regularly if it's to continue to grow. For instance, how can other websites promote the contests on this site if there's no concrete schedule? People then browse this way and see that the site is behind schedule, and then dismiss this site as slow or dead. Stuff like that only makes this site lose credibility, which is unfair for the guys and gals who put effort into making those contests a reality with their submissions, and it's also not good for this website as a whole.
I admire Matt for singlehandedly spearheading the shmup-dev contests and keeping this site alive. Performing site administration, advertising the contests, garnering endorsements, and obtaining prizes is quite a task. Kudos! And I also understand it if Matt runs into busy spells or gets burned out from constantly babysitting the site.
But if Matt needs to work on more pressing matters, then why not get some buddies to take care of this site? That way, Matt can do the life thing and shmup-dev.com will still get maintained in a timely manner. The website will stay fresh and exciting, the community will continue to grow, shmup-dev.com will increase in popularity, and Matt will get a well-deserved break from time to time.
I dunno about you guys and gals, but finding some extra site admins sounds like a win-win situation to me. I'm not talking about forum admins, I'm talking about
site administrators. This site needs more than one person working on day-to-day website duties if it's going to stay alive. So let's do something to put this site back on track! I for one don't want to see this awesome and unique site go to waste!
The crows seemed to be calling his name, thought Caw.
