Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Actually Matt, me and Rel are two of the founders of a current game programming group called Aura Flow.  So yeah, that would definitely be fine with us, you know?  Grin=b !

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Yo Matt, "Auraflow and Bleeding Edge" would be swell.

BTW, to the others I've uploaded a "non-compo" version.

Fixed some bugs and enabled the intro.

Enjoy!

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Did you mean to framecap at 30FPS? It seems to be running a tad fast and going around a steady 47 FPS for me. When I had it OpenGL mode it ran at like 13 FPS and was way too slow.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Specs?

I have it running at 60 FPS(The max) in all sofwaremodes(Normal2x, scale2x,etc). The GL mode runs at 50 FPS.

My Specs:

AMD duron 750mhz
NVidia GF2 MX 400 64MB.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Radeon Xpress 200m
1.6 ghz
512 (well it says 448 though...) MB of RAM

Strange that I have way better stats. I wonder what's going on there? I don't have anything resource heavy running either...

edit: I mean specs, but the stats are lower. I'll try it again.

edit2:

Here's a couple more glitches:

You can leave it running while the player is dead yet still progress through the level with no time limit.
And the level 1 boss music did not cut off for me when I progressed to the second level. Both the level 2 stage music and boss music were playing at the same time.

Aside from that nice work! I think this is still a very awesome game.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Thanks for pointing out the bug.

BTW, did you try running it in fullscreen?

You have to choose Fullscreen on the console.

Windowed mode seems slow.

Yeah I did it all fullscreen. Window mode typically runs slower.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Thank you so much, Tim W., and ONLY the official compo version that I have uploaded in the very first post in this thread will be judged and graded in this competition, whether it really makes the cut or not.  Grin

And for my confidence to make sure it works on all of the judge’s computers, I have most recently posted a thread in the Shmups forums based on this very game (and do feel free to look at it right here!), and according to the replies there, the official compo version of Marvellous Twilight was fully working.  So, I have *nothing* to be frightened about, really!!  Wink

And could you please feature this game on your Independent Gaming blog, since it has not been featured yet of all the entries submitted into this compo?  Thanks!!!  Cool

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

No no no.  You did not reveal too much at all.  In fact, Tim W., that is some excellent inside info from you right there, so truly well done on what you are doing!!!  Grin=b

And now that you mentioned it, I will be more than quite happy to present the Marvellous Twilight game vids on YouTube.  Most absolutely not a problem at all!!!  cool2 !

Hey, as for all that you just said, NOW YOU’RE DEFINITELY TALKING... and I’m loving it!!!  d=Wink=b

And by the way, two things for you: 1) yes, I did post a lot of screenshots for my other current shmup project called Dragon Dancer from the previous compo that I have participated in at Shmup-dev; and 2) you have one of the most outstanding game review blogs of any “independent game”-based sites I have ever seen, and you keep up the TRULY splendid work on what you are doing, Tim W.!!!  cheesy2 !

If I am man enough to do that, yes I can (when I get the chance).  Right now though, I am seriously catching my breath and picking up some steam now that the competition time is *officially* up already.  And Rel, despite some of my accidental troubles, I want to richly thank you and congratulate you for working so much with me on the Marvellous Twilight project on this compo version... I am damn well sure that we will continue on with developing even more of this game after this compo is over... and let us make it even greater NO MATTER WHAT!!!  d=Grin=b  Up to making the full game with me, hmmm?  cool1

This is a great entry guys. You both have my complete respect for all the dedication and time you've both put into this. The quality is top notch and the love for the genre shows very clearly. You both set a goal and drove forward really great teamwork. Your efforts and end result cannot go unnoticed. Anyone that plays this game can see that alot of love and time went into it. Everything is great. Grin

Why thank you so rather much, my awesome guy Pixel_Outlaw!!!  And such a most definite pleasure, too!!!  (^_-)v !!

I mean, look, no wonder why Shmup-dev and its competitions are such an outstandingly excellent labor of love for all of us... to just keep the shmup genre ALIVE AND WELL even when it seems dead to the mainstream console gamer these days, you know that?  Grin

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

And wonderful Matt McFarland, should me and Rel actually win first place on our project of Marvellous Twilight in this competition, do give the whole $250.00 money order to Rel himself... he deserves it a lot more than I ( Grin ! ), because he came up with the original program for this game and so wonderfully invited me to enter the contest with him in the first place since the beginning of this competition (which I most proudly did!!  Wink=b ).  So yeah, my hats are definitely off to Rel on his splendidly amazing programming skills that I am most surely inspired by on this game, and I personally owe it all to him as well!!!  Cheesy

Thank you so much for your generous time and consideration in advance!!!  wink2 !

That is, if we win. Considering the depth of the competition, I doubt it. :*)  I'm already happy that I got off my back my procastinating ways.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Yeah, I actually start to like this game the more I play it Smiley
(can only play with the first princess at the moment, since my gamepad won't work with princess no.2), but I REALLY REALLY like the bullet reflect shield. Without it, I probably wouldn't play this game since it gets pretty insane Smiley

Nice work anyway! Works perfect in opengl-mode. I only get 40fps in software mode though .. (but need for me to run software)

Hey guys, what is "Comiket"?

I read this post from AAP's youtube MT video.

Quote
Awesome Home Shmup. A must have for fans of Japanese Anime Riding Shmups. Should be at Comiket! Smiley

BTW, I also remember reading something about Comiket at the2bears' site.

Re: Marvellous Twilight [compo version completed!!]

Comiket (コミケ) is short for Comic Market, it's a yearly expo(?) kinda thingie in Japan, where there are many Dojinshi (Fan made comics, or indie comic studios/artist) artists/studios/groups showcase their masterpieces. Lately, Dojin-Games (Fan-made or Home brew games) also starts to pop up in Comiket.

Hope this helps!!!  Cool

Try this. This is a non-compo version but the only diffrerence is that this has an intro.
