Fireball - [working title]

Hello, I guess I'll emerge from lurker status for a second here to register for this comp  Smiley

Still working out some technical issues but hopefully I can start updating this thread on a regular basis. Good luck everyone!

Re: Fireball - [working title]

Quick update / brief description of the game

Basically, I'm making a segmented, arena shooter where your main weapon is a flamethrower. Presentation is in 3D, keeping within the comp guidelines of course. Most of my time lately has been focused on getting the fire effect looking and acting right plus adding damage effects like smoke & explosions. I hope by the end of this week to have the main character modeled and possibly animated. Screenshots/renders to follow with any luck Cheesy

Hey, so long as the gameplay is in a 2D-based format (even with 3D graphics), you are gonna do just fine, and you are pretty much on the right track too, lowpoly!  I wanna wish you well in this competition, man!!!  Wink=b

Re: Fireball - [working title]

Hi! Well, things are kinda slow and normally I'm tentative about showing very Alpha screens but what the heck, here's one

That's the fire effect I've got working, it looks a lot better in motion. The light gray box the fire is flowing from is the temp player model and the chunky white spheres are placeholder enemies. Almost everything in this screen is unfinished. I like the level design so far but aside from that everything needs a great deal of work. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm even going to get a single level done by the deadline at my current rate  Lips Sealed

Back to work!
