xWUNG

xWUNG with music by John Marwin

This game is kinda of a semi-shmup. The only thing keeping it from being a full blown one is that you can't actually shoot... You play by moving the mouse to swing a ball. The ball's attached to a "wire", and both of 'em kill enemies on contact. Be careful of the debris as it's deadly. There are bosses that appear with regular intervals. Make large combos to get good scores!

Don't put it in the same folder as Burn the Trash! or it'll steal your profile and score from there Sad
I've only been working on the game for twelve hours or so. If anyone has any great ideas on how to improve the game; feel free to make suggestions.

Re: xWUNG

Wow, this is great stuff! Love how precisely you can control the swinging; "sniping" bothersome parts of the bosses or flinging a nice arc right over the main body. Oh, and the rockets and their explosions look lovely.

I'm gonna play it some more and try to think of some helpful input, but for now, I noticed one thing that does need fixing. I died at boss three (or four, doesn't matter really)... I hardly killed any parts before I ran headlong into a bullet, so I spent a few seconds looking at the attack pattern. I then pressed enter to start a new game, wiping the boss of the screen and giving me a 20000 starting bonus. I like how the previous game is just hastily erased to start a new one, but it does seem like it brings with it some problems. Some times the Red/Yellow-power ups (downs?) remain from game to game as well (if you're quick to start a new one), allowing one to start with the special weapon.

Amazing that this is just a 12 hour work-in-progress...

Re: xWUNG

Thanks for the feedback, Thomasch! I fixed the boss issue. I won't bother with the powerups, since they dissappear rather quickly anyway. Also, if there are any red powerups, then that is one weird bug as well. Tell me if I should look into it wink2

Really glad you guys liked it! I wasn't sure if it was good enough to release or not. I just figured I had better get back to my other responsibillities as soon as possible...  rollseyes2

Re: xWUNG

That's good fun cactus - but I can't control it when I pick up the yellow wire. It's very hard to keep it spinning.

Re: xWUNG

This game's awesome! Although my highest score was around 20K Sad
As said before, spinning the yellow one is hard, yet is great work. You might try like a throwing ball power up? Then it bounces around enemies (perhaps debries too) ala breakout 'til it goes off screen. But as you release that ball you get to the normal one. Or perhaps a power up to increase ball's size. However, the way it is now is great. Fantastic work for such a small time frame.

Re: xWUNG

The yellow line is a bit tricky, since you on instinct want to swing it around to. However, the yellow line is a backwards mirror of the red line, so you keep swinging the red as normal, and while doing so, the yellow line helps you by destroying a lot of the debris. It can be a bit distracting, so it's up to each and everyone wether they want to use it or not.

I love it Smiley. Simple and completely addicting. Not much else to say really. Another excellent game cactus!
