I like Ville's game dev. tool as it its free and open-source, and complies tinny [ 40k ! ] windows executebles. [ also complies MAC and Linux, although I have not tested this,. ] It is also very pro-procedural and this is important to me, as I see code based creation of art as the proper way to design things that will be distributed on the net. This whole game is smaller than most .gif files,. and I am not even scratching the surface,. . yes I do want you to go and get ZGE!,. as the more people developing with it, the more it will grow, and that benefits me! self interest is the motivation that works!
Anyhow,. this game is a 2d sprite based affair,. in fact it is compleatly rectangle based,. even though it is rendered in openGL 3d. ZGE is a 3d game tool, check my site [

The game design is a minimalistic ver. of what I am planing to build next,. a game that has the player building stuff while fighting off attackers,. it is inspired in part by the enginer class of TF2,. well at least that was one of the best implementations of this idea that has been kicking around my head for a long time now,. you can see some of it realised in Cluster funked., and Gyro-phyter,. and most of my game in fact,. one day I will get the whole thing into one game,.. and then i can die,. . perhaps.
