CandyCorn UnderGrowth - a build shooter, . ?

This is the game I am currently developing,.

screen - note: SPACE to pause, ESC to quite, R to restart!


I am building this using the supper cool ZGameEditor tool,. [ http://www.zgameeditor.org/ ]
I like Ville's game dev. tool as it its free and open-source, and complies tinny [ 40k ! ] windows executebles. [ also complies MAC and Linux, although I have not tested this,. ]  It is also very pro-procedural and this is important to me, as I see code based creation of art as the proper way to design things that will be distributed on the net.  This whole game is smaller than most .gif files,. and I am not even scratching the surface,. .  yes I do want you to go and get ZGE!,. as the more people developing with it, the more it will grow, and that benefits me!  self interest is the motivation that works!

Anyhow,. this game is a 2d sprite based affair,. in fact it is compleatly rectangle based,. even though it is rendered in openGL 3d.  ZGE is a 3d game tool, check my site [ http://iterationGAMES.com ]  for Loose Pixles POW to see some basic 3d,. yeah I sound like a sales man, and I am,. but it is freeware so don't b hatein'.  The game design is a minimalistic ver. of what I am planing to build next,. a game that has the player building stuff while fighting off attackers,. it is inspired in part by the enginer class of TF2,. well at least that was one of the best implementations of this idea that has been kicking around my head for a long time now,. you can see some of it realised in Cluster funked., and Gyro-phyter,.  and most of my game in fact,. one day I will get the whole thing into one game,.. and then i can die,. . perhaps.

This is looking and sounding very unique. I do wish that you could turn a bit faster though. Good game so far and the file size is also a huge plus.



Aviator sunglasses are pretty much the shmups of the sunglasses world.

rotation speed vs aiming accuracy,.

Thanks Pixel_Outlaw,. I do value uniqueness!
 I have found this to be a good ballance,. faster rotation means aiming becomes more difficult or impossible, especially at long distances,. so what i have implemented here is a rotation that speeds up, to a max as you hold the key. This way if you just lightly tap the rotation keys you have some accuracy while aming, especially for long shots, and if you hold the key you get up to max spin in about a quarter turn.  I am going for a pacing here that keeps the game play accessable while building up to a rarther hectic struggle. In a minimalistic game, with only a few object types, I am attempting to let the movements of the player determine the structure or layout of the obsticales to some degree, while giveing the player the ability to manipulate these surroundings,. i.e clear out areas and build up the nodes in any order. 
 There are a few issues I would still like to improve, and I may add a bit more complexity,. perhaps more object types both good and bad, ..

Like trap concept, but definitely will benefit from further development. Praps if turning sped up if the player wasn't shooting, though?
